A total of 250 Iraqi scientists 
                        has been killed or assassinated since Us attacked the 
                        country in March 2003, local newspaper Al-Mada reported 
                        Thursday. The paper 
                        quoted statistics released by the University Professors 
                        League as saying that 250 professors of universities, 
                        institutions, and scientific establishments fell victims 
                        to killings or assassinations across the country since 
                        last April. 
                      “This emphasizes 
                        that there are certain parties behind that and want to 
                        deprive Iraq the special knowledgeable minds," said 
                        Issam al-Rawi, chairman of the league.Rawi 
                        pointed out that the series of assassinations, kidnappings 
                        and threats had made more than 1,000 university professors 
                        to flee the country. 
                      Al-Mustansiriyah University 
                        alone recorded about 13 cases of murders, threats and 
                        kidnappings for ransoms, the chairman added. 28% 
                        MNAs feudal, 21% industrialists/businessmen:

                       Twenty-eight per cent 
                        of the Members National Assembly (MNAs) have feudal orientation 
                        while 21 per cent other are from industrialists/business 
                        class. 
                      The statistics shows, just 
                        fewer than 50% of the lower house members are either feudal, 
                        businessmen or industrialists. 
                      A survey conducted about 
                        the MNAs’ political, social and educational backgrounds, 
                        revealed that 28% of them are from feudal backgrounds, 
                        21% are businessmen and industrialists, 8% from agricultural 
                        while 5% from other sectors. 
                      Only 23pc MNAs are hailing 
                        from professional backgrounds, including 12pc from education 
                        sector, 8pc from lawyers’ community and 3pc are 
                        from medial orientations, the survey stated. 
                      According to the report, 
                        9pc of the members were single and 97pc of the whole are 
                        Muslims, while rest of the 3pc is from different minorities. 
                        
The report reveals an interesting 
                        statistics of the MNAs; 29pc of the members are 41 to 
                        50 years old, 28pc are in 51 to 60 years age group, 11pc 
                        are 61 to 70 years while only 2 of the members are over 
                        70 years old. 
                      In younger age groups, 
                        23pc members are between 31 to 40 years old, while 7pc 
                        are below 30 years as the lowest age limit is 25 years.

                        to now that the members between 42 to 60 years age groups 
                        numbers of the National Assembly numbers 57pc of the whole.
